Riding Toward Independence — Rina’s Journey of Empowerment

When Rina, a young woman from rural Bihar residing in Uttar Pradesh, joined the Livelihood and Empowerment Program facilitated by Impact Sapiens, she had never imagined that one day she would confidently ride a bike across villages. Coming from a farming family, her dreams were often limited by financial struggles and social barriers that restricted women’s mobility and opportunities.

Through this programme, Rina learned essential life and livelihood skills, from financial literacy and communication to something far more symbolic: bike riding. The training not only gave her practical mobility but also instilled a deep sense of confidence and freedom.

Today, Rina travels long distances to give private tuitions to schoolchildren, supports her family’s farm activities, and manages her own earnings independently. She is no longer just contributing to her household income, she’s redefining what self-reliance looks like for young women in her community.

As Rina proudly says,

“Learning to ride wasn’t just about the bike—it was about taking control of my own journey.”

Her transformation stands as a testament to how empowerment begins when skill, confidence, and opportunity come together.
